Greetings

We endeavor to become more enriched and open art museum.
Dear visitors,
A cordial welcome to Jeonbuk Museum of Art.
I'm Chang Seok-won, Director of Jeonbuk Museum of Art.
We plan to hold an Asian Contemporary Art exhibition as one of our key projects of 2015. The exhibition aims to invite Asian artists to Jeollabuk-do, and have Jeollabuk-do artists invited to Asian art scene. Since Asia is expected to be the major hub of art in the near future, it also intends to prepare a path to Asia and make an opportunity for Jeollabuk-do art world to take an important role in Asia and foster its outstanding artists.
To do this, we select a few young elite artists in Jeollabuk-do and help them to hold their exhibition and enter the international art scene not to lose their competitiveness. We will also help them to actualize their dreams and passions internationally.
Another important project of Jeonbuk Museum of Art is to trace the history of modern art of Jeollabuk-do after Liberation. For this, we will record the memories of senior artists, support academics from various fields in writing their dissertations, and hold exhibitions of the modern art history of Jeollabuk-do.
Plus, we will focus more on purchasing art pieces of deceased artists, which could be specific evidence for tracing art history. Understanding the past could be the foundation that helps us to expand our potential into the future. Those who engage in self-reflective introspection would have an insight into future.
We put a lot of efforts to make Jeonbuk Museum of Art more special, friendly, and open to Jeollabuk-do residents. Children’s Atelier, Travelling Exhibitions are ongoing projects. In 2015, we will create an archival space and reveal its collections to the public. We will have art works, artists, and art materials from Jeollabuk-do including Korea and Asia, and art related publications will also be available. Furthermore, we will offer Jeollabuk-do people the chance to meet renowned artists and collectors like Seiji Shimoda, Ha Jeong-woong, Hwang Jae-hyeong, Kang Kwan-wook, and help them understand critical issues in art in an easy and interesting manner through conversation about art and life in society.
We will try to make the best museum with Jeollabuk-do people and enhance their quality of life through art and culture. Jeonbuk Museum of Art belongs to Jeollabuk-do people. We look forward to welcoming you to Jeonbuk Museum of Art to cherish and encourage us.
